Red Dead Race Results

Bentok who lagged far behind for the majority of the race took first place after a momentous move in which he got 100% completion and won 3 consecutive free-for-all matches.

DropTheHammer secured second place only moments before the finish line, finally overcoming Abernasty who he had been trailing for weeks. Though he did not win the race, he did kill Brumas the Legendary Bear with a knife and a high place.

Abernasty, after leading for two thirds of the race was hindered by a week of no internet access, finishing third overall. This was devastating as he only had online achievements left. Abernasty had completely diminished the spirit of the other contestants with his massive lead and wholehearted devotion. The tables were turned, though when his own spirit was crushed by the unbearable wait of a telecommunications company.

In fourth, AoF Furious had a promising run, at one point holding third place. Fifth and six spots were filled by Rontok and AoF Techno respectively. Rontok got a very late start, but put forth an admirable run passing up Techno's good effort.

Achievement Race Rules

Achievement races are all about having fun and adding a touch of friendly competition to games. Achievements speak for themselves, so there are not many rules other than just play the game and have fun. However, there are a few things that are unfair to other participants and thus will disqualify you from the race.

Boosting and glitching achievements are not allowed during an achievement race. Boosting is when you enter a competitive multiplayer match where all teams cooperate to increase stats. Examples would be entering a free for all death match where everyone takes turns getting head shots for experience; someone allowing you to perform an action that would normally be challenging to do like getting so many consecutive kills; or hooking up a second, unmanned controller to help yourself get an achievement.

Boosting achievements should be distinguished from grinding achievements. Grinding is simply finding the best way to do something legitimately and doing it over and over. An example would be playing capture the flag to get experience because capture the flag results in more experience than other game types such as death matches. Boosting, on the other hand, would be playing a 1 on 1 capture the flag game where you take turns getting captures to gain experience easily.

Glitching is simply getting an achievement without actually doing the requirements of the achievement. Going from rank 1 to 100 without getting to each rank in between is glitching.

We will use the honor system on these things. The main thing is have fun and enjoy the game. If an achievement is too much for you and you want to boost it, please wait until someone else has reached 1000.

Red Dead Redemption Achievement Race

The time is drawing nigh for another achievement race. Red Dead Redemption hits stores May 18. Anyone one interested in being in the achievement race simply needs to say so in the comment section of this post to register.

If you don't think you'll get the game on release day, feel free to register anyway. The game will take decent amount of time to complete, so you won't be at too much of a disadvantage. Plus it's all for fun anyway.

Now lets posse up and skin us some bears! That's one of the achievements, btw.

Bioshock 2 Achievement Race

The official Aeonian Samurai Bioshock 2 Achievement Race has reached its thrilling conclusion.

The race kicked off with Ab3rn4sty taking a quick initial lead, grabbing nearly all but 4 of the multiplayer achievements on the first day of release. His lead was short lived, however as DropTheH4MM3R and B3NT0K steadily progressed and overtook him. DropTheH4MM3R, not satisfied with keeping pace with B3NT0K, with an explosive burst of energy sprinted for a plethora of campaign achievements, leaving both B3NT0K and Ab3rn4sty in the dust. His passion and enthusiasm is laudible, as he was the first to complete the single player story. He did so by pushing his body to the limits, relentlessly crushing enemy splicers that stood in his way of rescuing Eleanor, even though it took until almost 3:00am.

However, what DropTheH4MM3R did not expect was the ace up B3NT0K's sleeve. As he emerged from the dust lingering from DropTheH4MM3R's mutant-jack-rabbit-like sprint, B3NT0K knew that the energy used for said sprint was futile. For B3NT0K required only a single play through the campaign, while DropTheH4MM3R required two. Though his load was considerably heavier, B3NT0K trudged through the gauntlet of every single campaign achievement while playing on the hardest difficulty, while DropTheH4MM3R would have to play the campaign one full time extra since his mad dash was done on medium difficulty.

Thus, B3NT0K finished all of the single player achievements in one swing, taking the lead while DropTheH4MM3R was only half way through his second campaign. B3NT0K was sure that he had taken the title of champion from the victor of the last race, but was his choice in rival ill placed? Was DropTheH4MM3R his biggest threat?

Meanwhile, knowing that B3NT0K was finished with single player, DropTheH4MM3R redoubled his efforts to complete the game on hard difficulty, but was it too late? All eyes were on Ab3rn4sty...

Bioshock 2 Race to 1000

On February 12 the next Aeonian Samurai achievement race begins for Bioshock 2. The race begins the day of, regardless of whether or not you can pick up the game on that day. Besides, if you don't get it on the 12th you're not hardcore and I'm sure you wouldn't want anyone to know that. The race ends as soon as a contestant reaches 1000. This promises to be a great race as the game is one of our most anticipated games of the year. The achievements look nostalgic in their similarity to the first game with a slight sprinkling of multiplayer spice.

Register for the race in the comment section of this post. It's time to separate the big daddy from the little sisters!

Left 4 Dead 2 Achievement Race Results

Our first Aeonian Samurai Achievement race is now over. Though it was unannounced to the participants at the time, the data is now gathered and a winner has emerged. And the winner is....

DropTheH4MM3R!

Congratulations DropTheH4MM3R! DropTheH4MM3R once again proves that if you have nothing but passion for zombie killing and cooperative play, you too can save the world in case of an actual zombie attack.

Before the race, analysts were heavily favoring the achievement heavyweight, Ab3rn4sty. However, the remarkable 230 point jumpstart that DropTheH4MM3R had - most likely due to his familiarity with the original Left 4 Dead game - proved too much for Ab3rn4sty to overcome. Even R0NT0K who achieved 220 a full week earlier was now at a disadvantage after DropTheH4MM3R's starting blitz.

The race came to an intense climax when Ab3rn4sty, B3NT0K and DropTheH4MM3R each reached a stalemate at 930 points for two consecutive weeks. If there was any point where they could have pulled ahead, this was it. However DropTheH4MM3R sneaked in his final 35 points a day earlier than the other two, definitively shattering their dreams of triumph. Unfortunately, R0NT0K's initial momentum was completely gone by this point. He was stuck at 600 points due to a canine eating his LAN cable - an essential tool for this achievement race. Better luck next time R0NT0K!

Outraged fans of Ab3rn4sty claim that he would have dominated had the game relied less on cooperative achievements. However, DropTheH4MM3R's small underground following claim, "It's not how the achievements are won, its how quickly you get them." Touche DropTheH4MM3R's fans, touche.

How will DropTheH4MM3R fair in the next AS achievement race with Bioshock 2, a game that relies mostly on single player achievements with a few competitive multiplayer thown in to spice up the mix? Will Ab3rn4sty gain the title that was originally favored toward him? Will B3NT0K unexpectedly emerge from his mediocrity and pull some late-nighters? Or will R0NT0K surprise us all and hit 1000 points between high school research papers?

Check out the race data below and stay tuned for the next Aeonian Samurai achievement race!
