Amy and I were talking recently and somehow we touched on the subject of one vs. two spaces after the end of a sentence. I was taught in keyboarding class in elementary school to use two spaces. However, somewhere along life's way, I completely abandoned the practice and went with one space. See?
Who else uses one space? Does anyone use two?

I use 2. See.
I've never used 2. I don't remember being taught to use 2.
I've always used two because I had a computer teacher from you know where in elementary school. Also we had typing exercises on the computer, so we had to do two spaces. It was a computer program that you had to get past each lesson/level to complete the typing class. If it wasn't correct you had to do it all over again. Kinda like Mario. So...of course the two spaces stuck with me never to leave.
I was taught 2 spaces, but in college, I just started using 1 space.
Interestingly, I used to hit the space bar with my right thumb because it is my dominant hand. I think we were taught to do it this way. After I fractured my right thumb in middle school, I had to learn to hit the space bar with my left thumb, and I've been doing that ever since.
As I'm typing this, I'm trying to figure out whether I use my right or left thumb. I use my right.
I use my right thumb too. Was it Mavis Becon Amy?
No Mavis. But a mean Ms. St.Clair :-<
